White's Memorial Presbyterian Church

Christ's disciples....

Picture
Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world.

A note from our pastor during this time of crisis:
My friends, how are you? I trust you are staying safe, staying home, and waiting for God. These are troubled times, and we need to listen to our medical professionals.

Like you, I miss our church. I’ve been going to church every time the doors are open for seventy years now, and a person does not stop attending without some withdrawal symptoms. But hang in there; we will outlast this crisis.

The word for today is hope. Hope is not about circumstances but about God. Fred Buechner describes hope as “wishful thinking.” It is “the wings the truth comes true on.” And the Apostle Paul gave us the three great words of our theology, faith, hope and love. While he said that we are saved by faith, isn’t it true that we are sustained by hope?

Our situation is not hopeless, because we are not Godless. We rest in the palm of God’s hand, and God is not through with us yet. God continues to work for our joy, our peace, and our salvation.

So, do not let your hearts be troubled. We believe in God, and God always has the last word, in this life and the next.

I love you, I miss you, and I look forward to seeing you when the time is right.

Love and hope, Tim

White's Memorial has been in existence as a congregation for over 140 years. Beginning in another location known as Silver Creek, White's members and friends have a deep relationship with the land and community of Berea, Kentucky. There is a deep heritage in the place and it's people.

Now that you have looked at our website, we hope that you will come and visit White's Memorial Presbyterian Church. We invite you to join us in worshiping God out in the country. Our church is only a few miles out of Berea toward Richmond. We hope that you will find a reason to venture out this way!
